I took this photo in May at Laupahoehoe Point on the Big Island of Hawaii. The beach is beautiful, with jagged rocks and crashing waves, and I took a lot of photos trying to get a good action shot of the spray. Not far away from this spot is a memorial to 24 students and teachers who died when a 30-foot tsunami wiped out their schoolhouse in 1946. Today’s image is a reminder that it’s not always easy or comfortable to be in the middle of the action.
